Why Did King Henry Break From The Catholic Church?
The Catholic Church did not let King Henry VIII to divorce his existing wife, therefore he decided to break away from the church rather than comply with their regulations. She was no longer able to deliver him a son, despite the fact that he need a male heir. He also divorced his wife shortly after founding the Church of England.
On the other hand, Henry severed his official ties with the Pope and the Roman Church after Pope Clement VII denied his request for an annulment of his marriage to Katherine of Aragon so that he might marry Anne. His request for the marriage to be dissolved was based on the argument that their union was in violation of the scriptures, namely Leviticus 20.
